I have 12 of these 12" x 12" panel board things that are 2 inches thick. A local furniture maker makes them for artists. I got these for $15 a piece. A joy to paint on. The javalina photo I took is next to the painting I've worked on. The painting is only the second layer of 4-5 layers of work on it. Next, I get out the really fine brushes to do all the hairs individually. In my show 'shift' with Blake Shell, my paintings were 2 layers. I'm aiming for more detail now but at this small scale, I can be much more detailed and move from painting to painting quicker.
